Carlos Pace in the Brabham BT44B at the 1975 Monaco GP - Limited Edition Giclee Print
"A Dying Breed"
This drawing captures Jose Carlos Pace driving the Brabham BT44B Cosworth at the 1975 Monaco GP. It is a tribute to a dying breed enjoying its swansong - for both Carlos and the simple, beautiful non-ground effect F1 car. Both Carlos Pace and the Brabham BT44B enjoyed a very strong season in 1975, with Carlos's uniquely smooth and almost old-fashioned driving style exploiting the quaintly benign handling of the Brabham to full, devastating effect - winning his only F1 victory at his home race in Brazil. After 1975, ground effect aerodynamics would become the dominant performance differentiator, and Carlos would tragically die in an aircraft crash in 1977 aged just 37.
