Emerson Fittipaldi in the 1972 Lotus 72E - Limited Edition Giclee Print
“Youngest Champion!”
This drawing captures Emerson Fittipaldi driving the 1972 Lotus 72E Cosworth. Launched in 1970, the 72 raced for 6 seasons and claimed 20 wins, 2 Drivers’ and 3 Constructors’ Championships, making it one of the most successful designs ever. The wedge-shaped wonder was yet another F1 performance game changer, with numerous innovations primarily focused on aerodynamics; it set the template for the future ground effect cars that would follow, and Emerson used it to become the hitherto-youngest World Champion in F1 history at the age of 25 years. It was also the car in which Jochen Rindt lost his life in 1970, in the process becoming the only posthumous Champion.
