Lotus 49, Jimmy's Last F1 Car - Limited Edition Giclee Print
“Jimmy's Last F1 Car”
This drawing captures the legendary Jim Clark driving the fabulous Lotus 49 Ford to victory at the 1968 South African GP.
It would turn out to be his last victory - and entry - in Formula 1. Jimmy would be killed in April 1968 while racing in an F2 race at the Hockenheimring. Jim Clark was Lotus, and Lotus was Jim Clark. He helped Colin Chapman and his team develop multiple iterations of Lotus F1 car through the 1960s, culminating in the mighty and technically groundbreaking 49. The first F1 car to use the engine as a stressed chassis member, it also provided the launchpad for the winningest racing engine in history: The Cosworth DFV V8. The legend driving a legend, indeed.
