Regazzoni launches his Ferrari 312B2 at the Green Hell - Limited Edition Giclee Print
“Clay Regazzoni Flying at the Green Hell”
This drawing captures Clay Regazzoni launching his Ferrari 312B2 at Flugplatz during the 1971 German GP held at the Nurburgring, the "Green Hell".
1971 was Regazzoni's second season with the Scuderia after a successful 1970 campaign, but Ferrari struggled to match the dominant Tyrrells despite heavily revising and improving their 312B from 1970. The Firestone tyres were the key weakness, so Regazzoni drove a measured if unspectacular German GP to bring the car home an impressive 3rd behind the two Tyrrells. Regazzoni's smooth yet courageous driving overcame the Firestones' weaknesses and exploited the strengths of the beautiful and effective 312B2.
